A reverse-cycle model can heat as well as cool. One indoor unit is connected to an outdoor unit, typically serving a room or open-plan area.
Can one split system cool the whole house?
Its reach depends on the layout and airflow. Closed doors and separate rooms limit how effectively one unit can serve the home. Compare multiple splits with ducted air conditioning and multi-head systems.
What size split system do I need?
Floor area is only the starting point. Sun exposure, glazing, ceiling height, insulation and how the space is used all affect the required capacity.
What affects the installation price?
Equipment, pipe length, access, drainage, electrical requirements and removal of an existing unit affect the scope. Ask for a quote that sets out the included work and any exclusions.
How often should a split system be serviced?
